Art Around the World (Winter)
Get your passports ready and discover art from cultures around the world! We will practice painting and drawing techniques from Africa, Australia, and Mexico, to name a few. Get ready to learn about art from new cultures or country’s every week! Students will have a chance to explore different forms of art and ways of creating that are specific to each special culture.  

SK: Thursdays, 3:00pm - 4:00pm ($250)

2nd: Tuesdays, 3:00pm - 4:00pm ($250)

Discover Gymnastics (PK - JK)

Gymnastics is a great way to have fun, stay fit and boost confidence! Not only will students gain instruction on all four Olympic events (floor, uneven bars, balance beam, vault), they will also learn to do the things they have seen on television. This program, directed by Patty Moore, provides the latest in gymnastics techniques and training for boys and girls.

PK: 3:00pm - 3:30pm
JK: 3:40pm - 4:10pm (aftercare provided beforehand)

Discover Theatre (Rising PK - Rising JK)

Join us for some theatre fun with Ms. Hannah! We will be using our minds, bodies and voices to invent unique stories and create interesting, new characters. We will play fun theatre related games that will be activate and require focus. Some of these games can be based in story-telling, characterization, physicality, and keeping your creative minds working as we grow and learn. All you need to bring is your imagination and willingness to play!

Explore Dance (Rising SK - Rising 2nd)

Explore Dance will be a fun introduction to foundations of dance, including ballet, jazz, tap rhythms, and creative movement.  Watch imaginations grow through the use of children's literature to inspire movement, as well as create our own stories.  We will also learn how the body can move freely and safely through hands on science and engineering projects.  Tap rhythms will strengthen puzzle solving, memorization, and math skills, while allowing students to become musicians themselves!

Lower School Basketball (SK - 4th)

The athletes will receive instruction in the fundamentals of basketball including passing, dribbling, stance, and positioning to prepare for game-like scenarios.  Students will have the opportunity to compete in league play against other schools.

1st: Tuesdays/Fridays, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
2nd: Wednesday/Thursday, 3:00pm - 4:00pm

Mural Design (5th - 8th)

Mural Design: Lausanne Community Mural Design Class

This studio art course introduces our middles school students to the theoretical and practical aspects of large-scale painting, murals, and public art. The objective of this course is for students to develop understanding about some of the social roles of art and the impact of murals in communities, based upon its historical and contemporary applications. The course will enable student to learn about color, line, space, balance, contrast, movement, white space, repetition, proportion, and pattern. Students will design a mural with the “Lausanne Way” in mind. Each student will then create a short video pitching their ideas and mural design. Each student will have the opportunity to paint their idea on a canvas to hang at Lausanne. One mural will be chosen for an actual mural in a Lausanne hallway!

Private Conservatory Lessons (JK - 12th)

Private Piano Lessons:  JK – 12th grades
Private Voice Lessons:  2nd – 12th grades
Private Violin and Viola Lessons:  JK – 12th grades
Private Guitar Lessons:  1st – 12th grades
Private Ukulele Lessons: SK – 12th grades
Private Cello Lessons:  1st – 12th grades
 
Available Lesson Times:  Lessons are scheduled by the Conservatory Director at a time that best meets both the student’s and instructor’s schedule. Lessons may be taken Monday – Friday between 7:30 a.m. and the beginning of the school day or after school. Lower School students may take private lessons during the academic school day during recess, art, music, or physical education. Because of the commitment required of musical study, all students enrolled in private lessons are required to commit to a full academic year of study. This year, we will offer in-person classes as well as remote lessons. We will begin scheduling classes the week of August 24th and classes will begin the week of September 7. 

Payment Options: 
Option 1:  $990 billed in full to student account September 2020. 
Option 2:  2 payments of $495 billed September 2020 and January 2021. 
Option 3:  9 payments of $110 billed monthly September 2020 - May 2021.

Enrollment Window: Online registration for private lessons will close on Friday, August 21st. To register after this date, please email Kenzie Neel at kneel@lausanneschool.com. The Conservatory at Lausanne will not accept any registrations for new students after August 30, 2020 Exceptions will be made only for students who transfer to Lausanne Collegiate School mid-year.

Teacher and lesson assignments for the 2020 - 2021 school year will be emailed to new students on Monday, August 31st.
